DIALOGUE
Léa : Thomas ! Tu as vu cette affiche ?
Thomas : Euh… quelle affiche ?
On pourrait apprendre ensemble.
Léa : J’apprends vite, tu me connais ! Et puis, tu es un bon prof, non ?
Thomas : Hein ?
Chouette ! Alors, on commence quand ?
Thomas : Attends, attends…
Léa : Ben… on improvise !
Thomas : *soupire* Bon, d’accord.
*sourit*
Léa : Fais-moi confiance, on va les épater ! Bon, on y va ?
Thomas : C’est parti ! Notre carrière de danseurs commence maintenant !
English translation
Léa and Thomas, two student friends, meet up after classes in a café near their university. Léa has just seen a poster for an amateur dance competition organized by their town hall and she has an idea she wants to share with Thomas, who has been taking dance classes for several years.
DIALOGUE
Léa : Thomas! Did you see that poster? There’s an amateur dance competition next month!
Thomas : Uh… which poster? Ah, that one! Yeah, I saw it in passing. Why, are you interested?
Léa : Well… I was thinking maybe we could sign up together? I mean, if you’re up for it…
Thomas : You and me? But Léa, you know I mostly do hip-hop. And you’ve never danced a day in your life!
Léa : Exactly! It could be fun, right? We could learn together. There’s still a month to prepare.
Thomas : Hmm… Wait, let me take a closer look. *reads the poster* “Competition open to all styles”… Oh, that’s interesting. And the first prize is 500 euros!
Léa : See! Besides, we could do something original. Mix your style with… I don’t know, something more classical?
Thomas : Mm… The thing is, I’m used to dancing solo or with my crew. Dancing as a couple is completely different.
Léa : Come on, Thomas! There’s nothing to lose by trying. At worst, we’ll make fools of ourselves, but at least we’ll have fun!
Thomas : *laughs* Oh really, you assume we’re going to make fools of ourselves? Very encouraging!
Léa : No, but you know what I mean! So, is that a yes?
Thomas : Um… let me think. We’d need to find a style that suits both of us. And above all, you’d have to learn the basics really quickly.
Léa : I learn fast, you know me! And besides, you’re a good teacher, right?
Thomas : Huh? Who said I was going to give you lessons? *smiles* Alright then, but on one condition…
Léa : Which one?
Thomas : We train at least three times a week. If we’re going to do this, we might as well do it properly.
Léa : Deal! Great! So, when do we start?
Thomas : Wait, wait… *looks at the poster again* Oh no! There’s a problem.
Léa : What? What’s going on?
Thomas : Registration ends… tomorrow! And we already have to come up with the title of our choreography.
Léa : Ah shit… uh, sorry. But it’s not a big deal, we can sign up tonight, right?
Thomas : Yeah, but the title of the choreography? We haven’t even decided on our style yet!
Léa : Well… we’ll improvise! What would you say to something like “Fusion” or “Encounter”?
Thomas : Hmm… “Fusion” isn’t bad. It fits with the idea of mixing our styles. But we’ll also have to find some music.
Léa : I’ve got tons of ideas! We could start with something modern and then move into classical, or the other way around!
Thomas : Hmm, that’s not a bad idea… A progression, you know. That could work.
Léa : So? Are you motivated now?
Thomas : *sighs* Okay, fine. But I’m warning you, I’m going to be demanding during rehearsals!
Léa : No problem! Oh my, I’ve already got stage fright and we haven’t even started yet!
Thomas : *laughs* Come on, let’s sign up now before you change your mind!
Léa : Change my mind? Never! I can’t wait to see the look on everyone else’s faces when they see us dance!
Thomas : Uh… I hope she won’t be too shocked by that look… *smiles*
Léa : Trust me, we’ll blow them away! Ready to go?
Thomas : Let’s go! Our career as dancers starts now!
