DIALOGUE
Sophie: Salut Marc ! Tiens, tu sors Luna ? Ça tombe bien, j’allais justement emmener Rex au parc. Ça te dit qu’on y aille ensemble ?
Marc: Ah, salut Sophie !
Marc: Haha ! Luna aussi à son âge. Bon, on y va ?
Luna a tendance à fouiller partout.
Marc: Exactement !
Sophie: Parfait ! Allez, on y va ?
English translation
Sophie and Marc, two neighbors and friends, meet in front of their building with their respective dogs. Sophie has a young, very energetic golden retriever named Rex, while Marc is walking Luna, an older, calmer dog. They decide to go for a walk together to the municipal park, but must first agree on a few practical rules.
DIALOGUE
Sophie: Hi Marc! Oh, you’re taking Luna out? That’s perfect – I was just about to take Rex to the park. Do you want to go together?
Marc: Ah, hi Sophie! Um… why not, but you know, Luna isn’t exactly young anymore. She doesn’t have Rex’s energy, you know!
Sophie: No problem! We’ll adapt to Luna’s pace. By the way, do you have a spare leash? Mine’s a bit worn and Rex pulls like crazy…
Marc: Yeah, I have one in the closet. But tell me, do you keep him on a leash in the park? Because last time…
Sophie: Oh come on, are you still bringing up the incident with the jogger? Rex was just a pup back then! He obeys much better now, I assure you.
Marc: Yeah… I hope so! You know it’s mandatory to keep dogs on a leash in the municipal park, right? There’s only the designated area where you can let them off-leash.
Sophie: Yes, yes, I know! In fact, that’s exactly where we could go. What do you think?
Marc: Uh… Luna doesn’t really like it when there are a lot of other dogs. She gets nervous and sometimes growls.
Sophie: Oh really? I didn’t know… Well, we can stay in the regular part of the park then. Anyway, Rex needs exercise, even on a leash.
Marc: Perfect! But if we run into any children, we’ll be careful, okay? Parents aren’t always thrilled to see big dogs approaching.
Sophie: Of course! Rex loves children, but I understand that it can be intimidating. I’ll keep him on a very short leash near the playgrounds.
Marc: Great! And what about the other walkers? Not everyone is comfortable with dogs…
Sophie: We’ll step to the side when someone comes by, as usual. Oh, by the way, do you have any small bags? I forgot mine…
Marc: Oh darn! I forgot mine too… Can we stop by the corner store? They sell them.
Sophie: Good idea! We can’t go for a walk without them, especially with Rex who… uh… poops a lot!
Marc: Haha! Luna did too at that age. Okay, shall we go? Ah, wait… it isn’t raining too hard, is it?
Sophie: No, it’s fine. Besides, they’ve got their fur to protect them! But if it really starts pouring, we’ll take shelter under the kiosk.
Marc: Okay. Uh, Sophie, one more thing… Rex doesn’t eat just anything off the ground, I hope? Luna tends to rummage everywhere.
Sophie: Ah, that’s a problem! Rex also picks up everything he finds. We really have to keep an eye on him, right?
Marc: Exactly! Especially near the trash cans. The other day, Luna found a leftover tuna sandwich… can you imagine the smell afterwards!
Sophie: Yuck! Once Rex ate something horrible… we had to rush him to the vet. Since then, I watch him like a hawk.
Marc: Okay, so we’ll give each other a heads-up if we see anything suspicious on the ground?
Sophie: Perfect! Shall we go? The dogs are starting to get impatient. Look at Rex, he’s already pulling!
Marc: Wait, one last thing… how long are we going for? An hour, does that work for you?
Sophie: Uh… Rex would need a bit more. An hour and a half, maybe? Won’t that tire Luna out too much?
Marc: No, she loves going for walks. It’s just that afterwards she sleeps for three hours! Okay, let’s go then!
Sophie: Great! And if we come across cyclists on the path, we’ll keep well to the right. Rex is still afraid of bikes…
Marc: No problem! Luna, though, doesn’t like scooters. Luckily we all know each other well – our dogs and us!
Sophie: Sounds good! Right, off we go for a nice walk then! I hope we’ll have some sunshine.
Marc: Me too! Come on, off we go, four-legged friends!
