Sylvie : Je comprends parfaitement votre frustration, monsieur.
Sylvie : D’accord. Et vous l’avez acheté récemment ?
M. Durand : Il y a trois mois. Jusqu’au 15 janvier, tout fonctionnait parfaitement. Puis plus rien du jour au lendemain.
Sylvie : Je vois…
Sylvie : Vous me rappelez directement.
Sylvie : Merci monsieur Durand.

Sylvie works in the customer service department of an urban transport company. She receives a call from Mr Durand, who has been waiting several days for a response regarding his complaint about a faulty travel pass. The situation becomes complicated because the file appears to have been misrouted between departments.
DIALOGUE
Sylvie : Hello, TranspoCity Customer Service, Sylvie speaking.
Mr. Durand : Hello, ma’am. Um… I’m calling about my complaint. I’ve now been waiting a week for a response from you.
Sylvie : Very well, sir, I’ll look into that right away. Could you give me your reference number?
Mr. Durand : Yes, it’s the… wait… TR-2024-3567. My monthly pass hasn’t worked since January 15.
Sylvie : Okay, let me check… Uh, did you say TR-2024-3567?
Mr. Durand : Exactly. I was told it would take 3 to 5 business days to get a response.
Sylvie : Hmm, that’s strange… I can’t find your file in our system. Are you sure about the number?
Mr. Durand : Of course I wrote it down! Listen, I already called last Tuesday and I was told it had been properly recorded.
Sylvie : Ah, I see the problem! It looks like your file is in the claims queue awaiting technical processing. It hasn’t yet been forwarded to the right department.
Mr. Durand : What do you mean? But it’s been a week! In the meantime I have to pay for each trip individually – it’s three times more expensive!
Sylvie : I completely understand your frustration, sir. Unfortunately, we’ve had some internal issues this week.
Mr. Durand : Malfunctions? But how much longer do I have to wait? I need my pass to get to work!
Sylvie : Right, I’ll take care of it immediately. Um… could you remind me exactly what the problem is?
Mr. Durand : My Navigo pass won’t recharge. When I place it on the readers, nothing happens. I’ve tried at several stations.
Sylvie : Okay. Did you buy it recently?
Mr. Durand : Three months ago. Up until January 15, everything was working perfectly. Then nothing at all overnight.
Sylvie : I see… Right, I’m forwarding your file urgently to the technical department. You should receive a response within 48 hours.
Mr. Durand : 48 hours? Another two days? What, that’s not possible! I’ve already lost a week!
Sylvie : Listen, I understand, but the technical department must first diagnose whether it’s a card problem or a system problem.
Mr. Durand : And in the meantime, what am I supposed to do? Drive my car? That’s the opposite of what you want, isn’t it?
Sylvie : You’re absolutely right. Uh… I can offer you a temporary solution.
Mr. Durand : Oh? Which one?
Sylvie : I can send you free transport tickets to cover your journeys in the meantime. How many trips do you make per day?
Mr. Durand : Uh… four, generally. Two for the commute to work, and sometimes two more in the evening.
Sylvie : Perfect. I’ll send you 10 tickets by priority mail. You’ll receive them tomorrow.
Mr. Durand : That’s kind, but… uh, the mail isn’t always reliable. What if it doesn’t arrive?
Sylvie : In that case… say, do you live near one of our offices?
Mr. Durand : There’s one near the station, about 10 minutes from my home. Why?
Sylvie : I can reserve tickets in your name. You can pick them up this afternoon with ID.
Mr. Durand : Ah, that’s already better! And what about my faulty card?
Sylvie : I’ll mark this as a priority. The technician will call you directly tomorrow morning to arrange a test or an exchange.
Mr. Durand : Well, uh… I hope this time they’ll follow through. Because honestly, when it comes to organisation…
Sylvie : Please accept our apologies again for this delay, Mr. Durand. It’s marked ” urgent ” in your file.
Mr. Durand : Okay. And what if I don’t hear anything by tomorrow evening?
Sylvie : Call me back directly. My number is 01-40-32-18-55, extension 127.
Mr. Durand : Perfect, noted. So let’s recap: tickets to pick up this afternoon, and a call from the technician tomorrow morning.
Sylvie : Exactly! And truly, my sincere apologies for this administrative misunderstanding.
Mr. Durand : Well, I hope this gets sorted out quickly. Thanks for your help – at least you’re efficient!
Sylvie : Thank you, Mr. Durand. Have a good rest of the day, and I hope to see you soon under better circumstances!
Mr. Durand : Yes, I certainly hope so! Goodbye, madam.
Sylvie : Goodbye, sir, and sorry again for the wait.
