Tu as à peine changé !
Camille: Toi non plus ! Dis donc, ça me rappelle des souvenirs…
Thomas: Ah oui !
D’ailleurs, euh… ça te dirait qu’on se revoie ? Pas par nostalgie, mais pour de bon ?
Camille: Avec plaisir !
Camille: Avec plaisir ! À nos futurs amis… et à notre amitié retrouvée !

Camille and Thomas meet up in a café after several years apart. They were classmates in high school and reminisce about their old friendships while discussing their expectations for new friendships in adulthood.
DIALOGUE
Camille: Thomas! Oh my! How long has it been… at least five years, hasn’t it?
Thomas: Camille! Unbelievable! Uh… I’d say more like six years, since our final year of high school. You haven’t changed a bit!
Camille: You too! Wow, that brings back memories… Do you remember our little gang back then?
Thomas: Oh yes! Sarah, Maxime, Léa… The five of us were inseparable. We used to laugh so much together!
Camille: Come to think of it, it’s funny you say that… I’ve been thinking about all that recently. You know, I ran into Sarah a few months ago.
Thomas: Oh really? How’s she doing? I’ve completely lost touch with her.
Camille: Well… let’s say it didn’t go very well. We tried to reconnect, but… I don’t know, we didn’t have much in common anymore.
Thomas: Oh no… But you were so close! You used to spend all your time together, you told each other everything…
Camille: Yes, that’s true. But you see, now that we’re adults, our priorities have changed. She wouldn’t stop criticizing my choices, my job, even my boyfriend!
Thomas: Ouch, that’s annoying. Friendship shouldn’t be constant judgment, right?
Camille: Exactly! And you, have you stayed in touch with the others?
Thomas: With Maxime, yes, from time to time. But Léa… uh… let’s just say we had a bit of a falling-out before we went our separate ways.
Camille: Oh my! What happened?
Thomas: Well, you know how she was… always wanting to control everything, organize everything. In the end, it became suffocating. She wanted us all to stay together at all costs.
Camille: Oh, that’s funny – I actually thought it was kind of nice that she took the initiative!
Thomas: Yeah, but that was too much. She got angry when I said I was going to study in Lyon. For her, it was a betrayal!
Camille: Ah… I understand better now. It’s true she had a hard time with change.
Thomas: So now I’m wondering… how do you make real friends at our age? It’s harder than before, isn’t it?
Camille: Oh, absolutely! In high school it was easy, we saw each other every day. Now, with work and mismatched schedules…
Thomas: Exactly! And I feel like people are more guarded these days. I’d like to get back that natural closeness we used to have.
Camille: Me too! But without the negative sides, right? No more possessive or overly critical friends.
Thomas: What exactly are you looking for in a friendship now?
Camille: Well… someone loyal, first of all. Someone who supports me in my projects instead of tearing them down. And you?
Thomas: Same! And someone you can have real conversations with, not just talk about the weather or work.
Camille: Yes! Someone who shares our interests too. I’d love to find friends who enjoy traveling, exploring new places…
Thomas: Oh, I love that too! By the way, um… would you like to see each other again? Not out of nostalgia, but for real?
Camille: With pleasure! But… I hope we don’t fall into the trap of ‘it was better before’!
Thomas: No, no – I promise! We’re building something new out of who we’ve become.
Camille: Perfect! Well, I must admit I have a little test for you then…
Thomas: Oh really? Which one?
Camille: Would you be okay with us inviting other people sometimes? Because I’d like to broaden my circle of friends.
Thomas: Um… yes, of course! It’s actually an excellent idea. That way we’ll avoid recreating a closed-off bubble like before.
Camille: Great! See, we’ve already learned from our past mistakes!
Thomas: That’s true! Come on – shall we toast to our new expectations around friendship?
Camille: With pleasure! To our future friends… and to our rekindled friendship!
