Marie et Thomas, un couple marié depuis dix ans, discutent dans leur salon un dimanche matin. Ils boivent leur café en feuilletant des magazines de décoration et de jardinage. Le printemps approche et ils aimeraient entreprendre plusieurs projets pour améliorer leur maison et leur jardin.

Marie: Alors chéri, qu’est-ce qu’on fait cette année ? Le jardin a l’air un peu… comment dire… négligé, non ?
Thomas: Euh, tu as raison. Et puis, la chambre d’amis aurait bien besoin d’un petit coup de peinture aussi.
Marie: Ah oui ! Et si on créait enfin ce potager dont on rêve depuis des années ? Regarde, dans ce magazine, ils montrent comment faire des bacs surélevés.
Thomas: Chouette idée ! Mais tu sais, moi et le jardinage… j’ai plutôt la main noire qu’verte, hein !
Marie: Ben voyons ! Tu dis toujours ça, mais tu n’as jamais vraiment essayé. Allez, on pourrait commencer petit : quelques radis, des salades…
Thomas: Mmh, pourquoi pas. Mais d’abord, il faudrait s’occuper de la terrasse. Les planches commencent à pourrir, c’est même dangereux.
Marie: Ah zut, c’est vrai ! J’avais complètement oublié. Ça va nous coûter combien, tu penses ?
Thomas: Euh… dans les 2000 euros, minimum. Faut tout refaire.
Marie: Deux mille euros ?! Mais on n’a pas ce budget ! Avec les vacances qui arrivent et la voiture qui a besoin de réparations…
Thomas: Ben justement, c’est le moment de faire des choix. Qu’est-ce qui est prioritaire ?
Marie: La sécurité, évidemment. Bon, on reporte le potager à l’année prochaine alors ?
Thomas: Pas forcément ! Et si on faisait nous-mêmes la terrasse ? Mon beau-frère pourrait nous aider, il s’y connaît en bricolage.
Marie: Toi ? Bricoler ? Tiens, ça c’est nouveau ! Tu te souviens de l’étagère de la semaine dernière ?
Thomas: Ah, arrête ! Une erreur, ça arrive à tout le monde. Et puis, pour la terrasse, c’est différent.
Marie: Mouais… bon, admettons. Et pour la chambre d’amis, on fait quoi ?
Thomas: Ça, c’est faisable ! Un week-end, de la peinture, quelques accessoires… Dis donc, et si on changeait complètement de style ?
Marie: Comment ça ?
Thomas: Ben, au lieu du beige actuel, pourquoi pas quelque chose de plus moderne ? Du gris anthracite avec des touches de jaune ?

Thomas: Euh, bon, c’était juste une idée… Qu’est-ce que tu proposes alors ?
Marie: Un joli bleu ciel, avec du blanc. C’est apaisant et lumineux.
Thomas: Mmh, c’est vrai que c’est plus classique… D’accord pour le bleu. Et on garde les meubles actuels ?
Marie: On pourrait juste changer la literie et ajouter quelques coussins colorés. Ah, et aussi changer ces rideaux affreux !
Thomas: Parfait ! Bon, récapitulons : terrasse en priorité, chambre d’amis ensuite, et potager… plus tard.
