DIALOGUE
Maxime : Allô Clara ? Tu as deux minutes ?
Clara : Salut frangin ! Bien sûr, qu’est-ce qui se passe ? Tu as l’air bizarre au téléphone.
Maxime : Euh… ben, j’ai eu mes résultats aujourd’hui pour le projet Mercier.
Clara : Ah !
Clara : Zut alors…
Clara : Bon écoute, on va régler ça autrement. D’abord, tu as quand pour le rattrapage ?
Maxime : Dans quinze jours.
Clara : Ha ! Là-dessus, je te rejoins complètement. Ce mec, c’est une catastrophe ambulante !
Maxime : N’empêche, j’ai l’impression d’avoir perdu mon temps…
Maxime : Merci Clara, tu me sauves la vie !
Maxime : Tu as peut-être raison…

DIALOGUE
Maxime : Hi Clara? Do you have two minutes?
Clara : Hi bro! Of course, what’s going on? You sound strange on the phone.
Maxime : Uh… well, I got my results today for the Mercier project.
Clara : Ah! So, how did it go? You were confident the last time we spoke!
Maxime : Actually… it’s a total disaster. I got an 8 out of 20.
Clara : Oh no! Seriously? But you’d spent weeks on it!
Maxime : Yeah, exactly! Three weeks working like crazy, doing research, market analyses… only to fail miserably in the end.
Clara : Oh no… What happened? Did the prof give you any explanation?
Maxime : Well yes, I got his feedback this morning. Apparently I was completely off the mark on the digital strategy part.
Clara : Wait, but you told me your buddy Thomas had helped you with that part, didn’t you?
Maxime : Oh, speaking of Thomas! He’d given me the wrong information. He’d misunderstood the prof’s instructions.
Clara : Oh dear, what a mess! So how much of your final grade does that represent?
Maxime : That’s the problem, it has a coefficient of 3! If I fail the resit, I can say goodbye to my semester.
Clara : Listen, Maxime, I understand you’re gutted, but it’s not the end of the world, you know!
Maxime : Easy for you to say! Mum’s going to lecture me again about not working hard enough…
Clara : Uh, when are you going to tell her?
Maxime : Well… actually, I was thinking maybe you could…
Clara : Ah no no no! No way I’m playing the middleman again!
Maxime : But Clara, you know how she reacts! Last time she gave me this whole speech about Dad always getting everything right on the first try.
Clara : Right, listen, we’ll sort this out another way. First, when’s your resit?
Maxime : In two weeks. The teacher told me I had to redo the entire strategy section.
Clara : Perfect! That gives you time. And guess what? My boyfriend Antoine happens to work in digital marketing.
Maxime : Oh really? Do you think he’d be willing to give me a hand?
Clara : I’m sure he will! He’s super nice and he loves explaining his job.
Maxime : That would be great… But I’m afraid I’ll struggle again.
Clara : You know what? The last time I failed my cognitive psychology exam, I was in the same state as you.
Maxime : Really? You fail at things sometimes?
Clara : Well, yes, you idiot! I’m not a machine! And do you know what my teacher told me? That failure is part of the learning process.
Maxime : Yeah, that’s the kind of clichéd line you hear everywhere…
Clara : Seriously! She told me that messing up helps you understand your mistakes better. And she was right!
Maxime : In my case, my mistake was trusting Thomas…
Clara : Ha! I totally agree with you on that. That guy is a walking disaster!
Maxime : Still, I feel like I wasted my time…
Clara : No! The rest of your project was fine, wasn’t it?
Maxime : Uh, yeah, the professor said the competitive analysis was very well carried out.
Clara : See! It was just that one part that was messed up. Antoine can help you restructure it properly.
Maxime : Do you really think I have a chance at the retake?
Clara : I’m convinced! Besides, now you know exactly what’s wrong.
Maxime : It’s true that when you think about it like that… Well, do you think Antoine would be free this weekend?
Clara : I’ll ask him tonight and call you back, okay?
Maxime : Thanks, Clara, you’re a lifesaver! And about Mom…
Clara : For Mom, tell her the truth, but explain your battle plan for the retake. She’ll be less dramatic if she sees you’re handling it.
Maxime : You might be right… Well, I’ll get back to work then!
Clara : That’s the spirit! And don’t hesitate to reach out if you need to unwind, okay?
Maxime : I promise! Thanks for being there, it feels good to talk.
Clara : That’s what family’s for! Come on, hang in there, little brother!
