Marie : Discrets ? Mais enfin, on n’a rien à cacher ! Au contraire, nos actions, elles sont formidables !
Thomas : Justement !
Marie : Euh… attends, là tu me perds. Authentique ?
Marie : Quoi donc ?
Thomas : Les familles qu’on aide… elles, elles veulent peut-être pas qu’on parle d’elles publiquement, hein ?
Marie : Ah ! Tiens, ça c’est un bon point… Je n’y avais pas pensé. Effectivement, ça pourrait être gênant pour elles.
Thomas : Eh ben voilà ! Tu vois ?
Thomas : Ça me va !

Marie and Thomas are active members of a local charitable organization that helps families in need. They meet in a café after a meeting to discuss their organization’s communication strategy. Marie thinks they should publicize their actions more, while Thomas prefers discretion.
DIALOGUE
Marie : I’ve been thinking about what we said at the meeting… Don’t you think we should publicize our actions more?
Thomas : Uh… publicity? What exactly do you mean?
Marie : Well, I don’t know… posts on social media, contacting the local press… We’re doing great work but nobody knows about it!
Thomas : Mm, I’m not too convinced. Our organization works very well the way it is, you know. Why change?
Marie : But Thomas! If we make ourselves known, we’ll get more volunteers, more donations… We could help even more families!
Thomas : Oh? And do you really think that’s what we should do? I think we should keep a low profile.
Marie : Discreet? But really, we have nothing to hide! On the contrary, our actions are fantastic!
Thomas : Exactly! Good deeds are done behind the scenes, right? It’s more authentic.
Marie : Uh… wait, you’re losing me. Authentic? But what do you mean?
Thomas : Well, when you help someone and shout it from the rooftops, it’s kind of… how to put it… showing off, isn’t it?
Marie : Showing off? Thomas, are you kidding! We wouldn’t do that to brag, but to raise awareness!
Thomas : Yeah, that’s what we all say at first… But look at those influencers who film themselves feeding the homeless!
Marie : Oh come on, that’s ridiculous! We’re not influencers! We’re a real association with real projects!
Thomas : I know, but… uh… once we start communicating, where do we stop?
Marie : Listen, I’m mostly thinking about the extra families we could help. Can you imagine if we had twice as many resources?
Thomas : Hm… when you put it that way… But there’s one thing that still bothers me.
Marie : What is it?
Thomas : The families we help… they might not want us to talk about them publicly, right?
Marie : Ah! Well, that’s a good point… I hadn’t thought of that. Indeed, that could be awkward for them.
Thomas : Well, there you go! See? We have to protect their privacy, their dignity…
Marie : Yes, but… we can easily communicate without showing their faces or giving their names! Lots of organizations do!
Thomas : Hm… And how do we know we won’t attract weird people or opportunists?
Marie : People looking to take advantage? What do you mean?
Thomas : Well, people who would come just to ease their conscience, or worse, to get access to our contacts…
Marie : Oh darn! Do you really think so? Come on, we can screen people, can’t we?
Thomas : In theory yes, but in practice… it’s more complicated. Look what happened to my cousin’s organization!
Marie : What happened to them?
Thomas : They were featured in a TV report, and afterwards they had plenty of problems… Intrusive journalists, curious onlookers…
Marie : Oh no! Really? Well, uh… maybe we could start small then? Just an article in the local paper?
Thomas : Hm… why not. But we’d have to pick the journalist carefully, and above all frame what we say properly.
Marie : Exactly! And we’d ask the families for their opinion beforehand, of course.
Thomas : Alright… Well, I’m willing to give it a try. But on one condition: we stay in control of our communications.
Marie : Perfect! And if it goes wrong, we stop immediately. What do you think?
Thomas : That works for me! Great – maybe we’ll manage to combine efficiency and discretion!
Marie : Great! Okay, shall we start by preparing a short press release then?
Thomas : All right, let’s get started! But… uh… you’ll write it, right? Me, communications isn’t really my thing!
Marie : Ha ha! Okay, but you proofread everything before we send it!
Thomas : Deal!
