Sophie: Ah zut ! Moi je termine à 17h mais j’ai rendez-vous chez le dentiste à 17h15… Euh, attends, c’était pas mardi ça ?
Marc: Non non, lundi. Regarde ton agenda !
Sophie: Mais enfin Marc, comment on va s’organiser ?
Marc: Ben… on pourrait demander à ta mère ?
Sophie: Hein ?
Marc: Oui, tu as raison… Bon, pour mercredi alors ?
Sophie: Mercredi… euh… Oh non ! J’ai complètement oublié ! C’est l’anniversaire de ton père !
Marc: Quoi ?
Bon, on gère. Mais jeudi, promets-moi qu’on a rien !
Sophie: Euh… ben justement…
Marc: Sophie ! On peut pas continuer comme ça ! On s’épuise à courir partout !
Sophie: Je sais bien ! Mais comment faire autrement ? Tout s’accumule !
Marc: Il faut qu’on apprenne à dire non parfois.
Sophie: Tu as raison…
Marc: Tu as raison. Allez, au lit maintenant ! Demain on met tout ça en pratique !
Sophie: D’accord !
Marc: Promis ! Bonne nuit ma chérie.
Sophie: Bonne nuit !

Sophie and Marc, a married couple with two teenage children, find themselves in their kitchen on a Sunday evening. They try to organise their busy week, juggling work, the children’s activities and household chores. The conversation quickly becomes stressful when they realise they have forgotten several important appointments.
DIALOGUE
Sophie: Okay, so… shall we go over the week? I feel like we’re running around everywhere at the moment.
Marc: Yeah, that’s putting it mildly! So on Monday I’ve got a meeting until 6:30 p.m., so I can’t pick the kids up.
Sophie: Oh no! I finish at 5 p.m. but I have a dentist appointment at 5:15 p.m… Um, wait, wasn’t that on Tuesday?
Marc: No no, Monday. Look at your calendar!
Sophie: Oh come on, Marc, how are we going to organise this? Léa has her piano lesson at 6 p.m. and Thomas his football training at 7 p.m.!
Marc: Well… we could ask your mum?
Sophie: Huh? My mum is at my sister’s until Wednesday, did you forget?
Marc: Ah darn, that’s true… Well, what if I cancelled my meeting?
Sophie: You can’t do that, it’s important for your promotion! Hey, we could arrange a carpool with Maxime’s parents?
Marc: Good idea! And what about Tuesday, then?
Sophie: Tuesday is worse! I have training all day, and you have your business trip to Lyon…
Marc: Well, the kids are old enough to get home from school on their own, aren’t they?
Sophie: Yes, but Thomas has his maths test on Wednesday – he absolutely has to study! And Léa has to finish her presentation on Molière.
Marc: Okay, okay… What if we hired someone to help the kids with their homework?
Sophie: Marc, be realistic! How are we supposed to pay for that? We already have the mortgage payments, the car insurance…
Marc: Yes, you’re right… Okay, what about Wednesday, then?
Sophie: Wednesday… uh… Oh no! I completely forgot! It’s your father’s birthday!
Marc: What? But we haven’t prepared anything! We have to find a gift, bake a cake…
Sophie: Calm down! We can order a cake from the bakery. For the gift, didn’t you say he wanted that book about the First World War?
Marc: Yes, yes… Okay, we’ll manage. But promise me we have nothing on Thursday!
Sophie: Uh… well actually… I forgot to tell you, my colleague Martine is organising a farewell party on Thursday evening…
Marc: Sophie! We can’t go on like this! We’re wearing ourselves out running around!
Sophie: I know! But what else can we do? It’s all piling up!
Marc: We need to learn to say no sometimes. And we could delegate more to the kids.
Sophie: You’re right… Léa could very well prepare dinner once a week, and Thomas could take care of the laundry.
Marc: Exactly! And we could set aside at least one evening a week just for ourselves.
Sophie: Great! It’s been a long time since we’ve had any time alone together…
Marc: So it’s decided! We’re having a family meeting tomorrow evening to redistribute the chores!
Sophie: Perfect! And let’s buy a big planner for the fridge, so we can see everything at a glance.
Marc: Excellent idea! OK, and for this week, how do we do it in practice?
Sophie: We’ll get there, don’t worry. The main thing is that we’ve become aware of the problem!
Marc: You’re right. Come on, to bed now! Tomorrow we’ll put all that into practice!
Sophie: Alright! And remember: no more stress like that on Sunday evenings!
Marc: I promise! Good night, my darling.
Sophie: Good night!
