Sophie : Tiens, Lucas ! Tu ne devineras jamais ce qui m’arrive. J’ai reçu une lettre de ma grand-tante Marcelle du Québec !
Lucas : Ah bon ? Une vraie lettre papier ? Ça existe encore, ça ! Et qu’est-ce qu’elle te raconte ?
Sophie : Ben justement, elle me parle de notre arrière-grand-père qui a émigré au Canada dans les années 1920. J’ignorais complètement cette histoire !
Lucas : Chouette ! Moi aussi j’ai des ancêtres qui ont quitté la France, tu sais. Mon arrière-grand-mère est partie en Argentine juste après la Première Guerre mondiale.
Sophie : Sans blague ? Et pourquoi elle est partie là-bas ?
Lucas : Euh… d’après ce que m’a raconté ma grand-mère, elle cherchait du travail. L’Europe était en ruine après la guerre, et l’Argentine offrait de meilleures perspectives.
Sophie : C’est exactement pareil pour mon arrière-grand-père ! Il était menuisier et il paraît qu’au Québec, avec tout le développement, les artisans étaient très demandés.
Lucas : Dis donc, nos familles ont vécu la même époque difficile… Et ta grand-tante, elle te raconte quoi d’autre ?
Sophie : Elle dit qu’il s’est installé près de Montréal et qu’il a fondé une petite entreprise de menuiserie. Mais voilà le hic : elle prétend qu’il a laissé des biens en France avant de partir !
Lucas : Ah ! Ça se complique ! Tu veux dire qu’il y aurait un héritage quelque part ?
Sophie : C’est ce qu’elle insinue, oui. Mais bon, après tout ce temps… Je ne sais pas trop quoi en penser. Et toi, tu as gardé des liens avec la branche argentine ?
Lucas : Malheureusement non. Ma grand-mère a perdu le contact après la mort de sa mère dans les années 60. Mais j’aimerais bien retrouver des cousins là-bas !
Sophie : Hein ? Attends, tu dis que ton arrière-grand-mère est morte dans les années 60 ?
Lucas : Euh, oui… pourquoi ?

Sophie : Ah oui, c’est vrai ! Ma cousine a fait des recherches sur FamilySearch l’année dernière. Elle a retrouvé plein d’infos sur notre famille.
Lucas : Exactement ! Et moi, ça me donne envie de chercher mes cousins argentins. On pourrait s’y mettre ensemble, qu’est-ce que tu en dis ?
Sophie : Carrément ! Ce serait génial ! Imagine si on arrive vraiment à retrouver des membres de nos familles…
Lucas : Oui, et puis ça nous ferait une excuse pour voyager ! Moi, l’Argentine, ça me fait rêver depuis longtemps.
Sophie : Et moi le Québec ! Ma grand-tante m’invite depuis des années, mais je n’ai jamais franchi le pas.
Lucas : Bon alors, c’est décidé ! On se lance dans nos enquêtes familiales et on se programme des voyages sur les traces de nos ancêtres !
Sophie : Parfait ! Et qui sait, peut-être que je découvrirai vraiment un petit héritage au passage… Même si ce n’est que sentimental !
Lucas : L’important, c’est de renouer avec nos racines. Nos arrière-grands-parents seraient sûrement fiers de voir qu’on s’intéresse à leur histoire.
Sophie : Tu as raison. Allez, on commence par commander un autre café et tu m’aides à relire cette lettre plus attentivement ?
