Weekend cleaning – who does what?

Lucas ! Descends s’il te plaît !
Lucas : *(depuis l’étage)* J’arrive, j’arrive !
Sophie : *(soupirant)* Bon sang, Marc !
Manon m’a montré l’autre jour.
Sophie : Ah ?
On va y arriver.
Marc : Tu as raison, fiston. Allez, courage ! Au boulot !
Sophie : Attendez ! J’allais oublier…
Sophie : *(regard noir)* Marc…
Marc : Ok, ok !
Lucas : Je vais d’abord ranger ma chambre.

English translation

It’s Saturday morning at the Dubois’. As every weekend, the family has to organize themselves for the big weekly cleaning. Sophie and Marc, married for ten years, are trying to divide the household chores fairly with their teenage son Lucas, who would clearly rather be doing something else.
DIALOGUE
Sophie : Okay, boys! We need to get organized for the cleaning today. The house is in a state… pfft!
Marc : Uh, wait, honey… I was planning to watch the match this afternoon with Philippe.
Sophie : Oh no, absolutely not! We agreed we’d all do it together this weekend. Lucas! Come downstairs, please!
Lucas : *(from upstairs)* I’m coming, I’m coming! But I can’t stay long, I promised Theo I’d…
Sophie : Oh, come on! Everyone has an excuse. Listen, we’re going to make a list and everyone takes their share, end of story.
Marc : Okay, okay… Well, I can take care of the vacuuming and clean the bathroom.
Lucas : *(arriving in the kitchen)* Oh my, what’s going on? Why do you all look like that?
Sophie : We’re dividing up the household chores, sweetheart. Dad will do the vacuuming and the bathroom. You could tidy your room and take out the trash.
Lucas : My room? But my room’s perfectly fine! Okay, fine about the trash, but after that I’m heading to Theo’s, okay?
Marc : Hey, what about the kitchen? Who’s going to take care of it? The cupboards are sticky, the sink’s overflowing…
Sophie : I can do the kitchen and the living room. But the laundry will need to be taken care of too. Marc, can you start a load of laundry?
Marc : Uh… which one? The washing machine? *(nervous laughter)* You know I always mix up the wash cycles…
Sophie : *(sighing)* Good grief, Marc! We’ve had this machine for ten years! The 40°C program for colored laundry, 60°C for whites!
Lucas : I can do it! Manon showed me the other day.
Sophie : Oh? Well, that’s new! Your girlfriend’s teaching you household chores now?
Lucas : *(blushing)* She’s not my girlfriend! Well… not yet. But anyway, she thinks guys who don’t know how to take care of themselves are lame.
Marc : She’s not wrong, the little one! Okay then, Lucas will take care of the laundry. I’ll do the vacuuming and the bathroom. Sophie, the kitchen…
Sophie : And the living room! Don’t forget the living room. You have to dust all the furniture, mop the floor…
Lucas : By the way, Mum… uh… there’s a small problem with my room.
Sophie : What kind of problem?
Lucas : Well… I spilled some Coke on the carpet last night and… it’s a bit sticky.
Sophie : What?! Lucas! Why didn’t you say so earlier?
Marc : Darn it! We’ll need to clean that up quickly, otherwise it’ll leave a permanent stain.
Sophie : *(annoyed)* Alright, change of plans, everyone! Marc, take care of Lucas’s carpet with the stain remover. Lucas, vacuum the living room.
Lucas : But… what about the laundry?
Sophie : I’ll take care of it! Honestly, every time we try to organize something in this house…
Marc : Calm down, honey. We’ll manage. By the way, where do we keep the vacuum again?
Sophie : In the closet under the stairs! As always!
Lucas : Alright, parents, relax! If we all pitch in, it’ll be done in two hours at most.
Marc : You’re right, son. Come on, stay strong! Let’s get to work!
Sophie : Wait! I almost forgot… We also need to clean the living room windows. They’re disgusting!
Lucas : Oh no! Not the windows! They’re a nightmare – they always leave streaks!
Marc : Uh… maybe we can postpone that until next week?
Sophie : *(cold stare)* Marc…
Marc : Okay, okay! I’ll take care of it after the rug. Right, Lucas, are you starting by tidying your room or vacuuming?
Lucas : I’ll tidy my room first. That way you can take care of the rug afterwards.
Sophie : Perfect! In an hour we’ll take a coffee break and see where we are. Does that work for you?
Marc : Deal! Let’s get to work!
Lucas : And afterwards, I promise, can I go to Théo’s?
Sophie : If everything’s done properly… I promise!
