Marie et Thomas, un jeune couple qui vit ensemble depuis six mois, découvrent qu’ils ont des habitudes très différentes concernant les tâches ménagères. Aujourd’hui, ils doivent organiser le lavage et le séchage du linge qui s’accumule depuis des semaines.

Marie: Thomas, regarde-moi cette montagne de linge sale ! Ça déborde du panier, c’est n’importe quoi !
Thomas: Euh… ouais, je sais bien. J’allais justement m’en occuper ce week-end.
Marie: Ce week-end ? Mais on n’a plus rien à se mettre ! Mes derniers sous-vêtements propres, je les porte depuis hier.
Thomas: Bon, ben… on peut faire une lessive maintenant si tu veux. Mais honnêtement, chez mes parents, c’était toujours ma mère qui s’occupait de ça.
Marie: Ah bon ? Et tu comptais attendre que je devienne ta mère, c’est ça ? Hein ?
Thomas: Mais non ! C’est pas ce que j’ai voulu dire… C’est juste que j’y connais rien, moi, aux machines à laver.
Marie: Tiens ! Il faut un master pour appuyer sur un bouton maintenant ? Allez, viens, je vais t’expliquer.
Thomas: D’accord, d’accord… Euh, on met tout ensemble ?
Marie: Non mais tu rigoles ? Il faut trier ! Les couleurs avec les couleurs, le blanc avec le blanc. Et surtout pas d’eau chaude pour les trucs délicats.
Thomas: Ah… Et comment on sait ce qui est délicat ?
Marie: Tu regardes l’étiquette ! Là, tu vois ces petits symboles ? Celui-là, ça veut dire lavage à 30 degrés maximum.
Thomas: C’est compliqué, ton truc… Et ça, c’est quoi ce rond avec un point ?
Marie: Ça c’est pour le séchage. Un point, c’est température basse. Deux points, température normale. Et s’il y a une croix, tu ne peux pas le mettre au sèche-linge.
Thomas: Zut ! Mon pull en laine ! Je l’ai mis au sèche-linge la semaine dernière…
Marie: Quoi ?! Mon beau pull bordeaux que je t’avais prêté ? Thomas, dis-moi que c’est pas vrai !
Thomas: Euh… ben si. Mais il a juste un peu… rétréci.
Marie: Un peu ?! Il fait la taille d’une poupée maintenant ! J’y crois pas !
Thomas: Bon, écoute, je suis désolé pour ton pull. Je t’en rachèterai un autre, promis. Mais là, on peut continuer avec cette lessive ?
Marie: Pfff… D’accord. Mais maintenant tu fais attention ! On commence par le linge blanc. Mets la lessive en poudre ici, dans ce compartiment.
Thomas: Combien j’en mets ?
Marie: Ça dépend de la charge. Là, on a pas mal de trucs, donc… deux mesures. Et n’oublie pas l’adoucissant !
Thomas: L’adoucissant, c’est obligatoire ?
Marie: Non, mais c’est mieux. Ça rend le linge plus doux et ça sent bon. Tu mets ça dans le petit compartiment avec la fleur.
Thomas: OK… Et maintenant ?
Marie: Tu sélectionnes le programme. Pour le coton blanc, programme 60 degrés, essorage normal. C’est celui-là.
Thomas: Et ça dure combien de temps ?
Marie: Environ une heure et demie. Pendant ce temps-là, on peut trier le reste du linge. Regarde, on a au moins trois autres machines à faire !
Thomas: Trois autres ? Mais on n’aura jamais fini aujourd’hui !
Marie: Ben si ! Pendant que la première tourne, on prépare la deuxième. Et puis il faut étendre le linge qui est dans le sèche-linge depuis hier…
Thomas: Ah oui, j’avais oublié ! Il doit être tout froissé maintenant.
Marie: Exactement ! C’est pour ça qu’il faut s’organiser. Moi, je propose qu’on fasse un planning : une semaine toi, une semaine moi.
Thomas: Mouais… Ou alors on fait moitié-moitié ? Toi tu t’occupes du lavage, moi du séchage et du repassage ?
Marie: Du repassage ? Ah, ça c’est intéressant ! Tu sais repasser au moins ?
Thomas: Euh… j’ai déjà essayé. C’est pas si compliqué, non ?

Thomas: Compris ! Et pour étendre le linge ?
Marie: Alors là, il y a des règles aussi ! Les pantalons, tu les suspends par la ceinture. Les t-shirts, par le bas, sinon ça laisse des marques sur les épaules.
Thomas: OK, je prends note… Dis, on pourrait peut-être investir dans un étendoir plus grand ? Celui-là est vraiment trop petit.
Marie: Bonne idée ! Et puis un panier à linge pour chaque chambre, comme ça on évite que ça traîne partout.
Thomas: Parfait ! Bon, je crois que notre première machine est finie. On la met au sèche-linge ?
Marie: Attends ! D’abord, on vérifie qu’il n’y a rien qui doit sécher à l’air libre. Et on nettoie le filtre du sèche-linge, c’est important !
Thomas: Le filtre ? Ah oui, ce truc plein de peluches… C’est dégoûtant !
Marie: Mais c’est indispensable ! Sinon, ça marche mal et ça consomme plus d’électricité.
