Planning a weekly menu

Thomas: Hey, sois sympa !
Thomas: T’as raison…
Marie: Oh oui ! Chouette !
Bon, on récapitule ?
Thomas: Nickel ! Et pour les petits-déjeuners et déjeuners ?
Marie: Ah ben mince, on a oublié !
Marie: Tu as raison. Bananes, pommes, oranges… Ça ira ?
Thomas: Parfait !
Thomas: Haha !

DIALOGUE

Marie: Right, shall we get started for this week? I’ve pulled out the shopping list and the planner.
Thomas: Yeah, good idea! On Tuesday evening I have a meeting that’ll run late, so I’d need something quick to reheat.
Marie: Ah yes, that’s true… Uh, we could make lasagna on Monday and you’d just have to heat some up on Tuesday?
Thomas: Perfect! And on Wednesday my mother is coming for dinner, do you remember?

Marie: Right, shall we get started for this week? I’ve pulled out the shopping list and the planner.
Thomas: Yeah, good idea! On Tuesday evening I have a meeting that’ll run late, so I’d need something quick to reheat.
Marie: Ah yes, that’s true… Uh, we could make lasagna on Monday and you’d just have to heat some up on Tuesday?
Thomas: Perfect! And on Wednesday my mother is coming for dinner, do you remember?
Marie: Darn! I completely forgot! Well then, we’ll have to pull out all the stops… Your mother, huh, she’s got her little habits.
Thomas: Hey, be nice! Well, it’s true she likes traditional cooking. How about a beef bourguignon?
Marie: Mmm, why not, but that’ll blow this week’s budget… Beef’s ridiculously expensive at the moment!
Thomas: You’re right… Hey, what if we made coq au vin instead? It’s cheaper and just as traditional.
Marie: Good idea! So I’ll note: Monday lasagna, Tuesday lasagna leftovers for you – I’ll make myself a salad, Wednesday coq au vin with mother-in-law.
Thomas: And Thursday? We said we’d try to eat more fish this year…
Marie: Ah yes! Grilled salmon with steamed vegetables? It’s simple and healthy.
Thomas: Uh, Marie… just look at salmon prices at the moment! We’ll end up penniless!
Marie: Come on, we can’t eat pasta all the time! Okay, cod then – it’s more affordable.
Thomas: Perfect. Friday evening, we’re going out with Julien and Sophie, so no cooking.
Marie: Great, that gives us one less evening to plan. And the weekend?
Thomas: Saturday lunchtime, we could treat ourselves… Fancy some crêpes? It’s been a long time!
Marie: Oh yes! Great! And on Sunday, we’re eating at your parents’ place, right?
Thomas: Exactly. Well, in the end, we only have Saturday evening left to plan.
Marie: A homemade pizza while watching a movie? Low-key and inexpensive…
Thomas: I love that idea! Okay, shall we recap? I’ve kind of lost track…
Marie: So: Monday lasagna, Tuesday leftovers for you, Wednesday coq au vin, Thursday cod with vegetables, Friday restaurant, Saturday crêpes at lunchtime and pizza in the evening, Sunday at your parents’ place.
Thomas: Perfect! And what about breakfasts and lunches?
Marie: Oh shoot, we forgot! For weekday lunches, shall we just fend for ourselves at work like usual?
Thomas: Yeah, the canteen for me and your homemade salads for you. But we need to think about breakfasts: no more cereal or jam.
Marie: And no more coffee! I finished the bag this morning. Okay, I’ll add that to the list with bread, milk, and eggs…
Thomas: Don’t forget the fruit! We said we’d eat more healthily.
Marie: You’re right. Bananas, apples, oranges… Will that be okay?
Thomas: Perfect! Okay then, we’ve got to work out the total budget…
Marie: Uh, I’d rather not know! We’ll see at the checkout!
Thomas: Haha! As usual… Come on, shall we do the shopping tomorrow evening after work?
Marie: Deal! And this time we’ll stick to the list, right? No impulse buys!
Thomas: Promise! Well… unless I see some good deals!
Marie: Thomas! You’re incorrigible! Well, at least we’re organized for this week.
Thomas: Yes, and we’re going to eat well! Thanks, my darling, for this top-notch organisation.
