Planning a shared, peaceful Sunday breakfast

Marc: Des pancakes ?
Sophie: Oh là là, tu n’as aucune confiance en moi ! Attends…
Ma sœur me l’avait donnée…
Sophie: *boudeuse* D’accord, d’accord…
Sophie: Tu as raison…
Marc: Alors, récapitulons : croissants, oranges, fromage… j’oublie rien ?
Sophie: T’as raison, on s’adaptera !
Vivement demain matin…
Sophie: Bonne nuit ! Ça va être parfait, tu vas voir !

Marc: Hey, darling… fancy a proper breakfast tomorrow morning? Not just a coffee gulped down in a rush like usual…
Sophie: Mmm, good idea! I have to admit it’s been a long time since we’ve treated ourselves to something nice on a Sunday. What were you thinking?
Marc: Well, I don’t know… fresh croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice, maybe scrambled eggs? Something cosy, you know.
Sophie: Oh yes! And we could bring out the nice dishes – the ones we never use. What if we ate on the terrace?
Marc: Excellent idea! The weather’s been really great lately. Uh… but wait, do we have everything we need at home?
Sophie: Good question… *gets up* I’ll take a look in the fridge. So… we have eggs, butter, milk…
Marc: And what about the croissants? I don’t think we have any…
Sophie: No, that’s true. But the bakery on the corner is open on Sunday morning. Could you go there around 9am?
Marc: Yeah, no problem! I’ll pick up the paper while I’m at it. So, what time are we getting up?
Sophie: Hmm… 8:30, does that work for you? That way we won’t be rushed, we’ll take our time…
Marc: Perfect! And what about drinks, what should we do? Coffee for me, definitely. You prefer your tea, right?
Sophie: Exactly! And I’d love some orange juice. You know what? We could buy oranges and squeeze them ourselves!
Marc: Ah, now that’s luxury! *laughs* Madam wants freshly squeezed juice…
Sophie: *laughing* So what? It’s Sunday, let’s treat ourselves a little! Besides, we could even make pancakes…
Marc: Pancakes? You know how to make them?
Sophie: Um… in theory, yes! I have a recipe somewhere. It can’t be that complicated, can it?
Marc: *dubious* If you say so… Well, at worst, we’ll fall back on croissants!
Sophie: Oh dear, you have no confidence in me! Hold on… *searches through her papers* Where did I put that darn recipe?
Marc: Are you sure you had it? Because I wouldn’t know the first thing about pancakes…
Sophie: But yes! My sister gave it to me… Oh darn, I think I left it at my parents’ house.
Marc: *smirking* I knew it! Alright, we’ll stick with a classic menu then?
Sophie: *pouty* Okay, okay… Croissants, scrambled eggs, orange juice. And jam! Do we still have any strawberry jam left?
Marc: I think so, yes. In the top cupboard. Oh, and we could get some cheese too! Camembert or brie…
Sophie: Mmm, good idea! A proper French breakfast! Say, what if we invited the neighbors?
Marc: The Martins? Uh… isn’t it a bit late to let them know?
Sophie: You’re right… And besides, the idea was to have a quiet moment just the two of us, wasn’t it?
Marc: Exactly! Just the two of us, relaxing on the terrace… It’s going to be great!
Sophie: Alright, let’s do that! You handle the shopping, I’ll set the table and get the terrace ready.
Marc: Deal! Shall we turn off our phones, what do you say?
Sophie: Excellent idea! A real break… Ah, that’s going to feel good!
Marc: So, let’s recap: croissants, oranges, cheese… am I forgetting anything?
Sophie: No, I think we’ve got everything! Oh wait… what if it rains tomorrow?
Marc: *looks out the window* I doubt it – the sky’s clear. And if worst comes to worst, we’ll set up in the kitchen!
Sophie: You’re right, we’ll adapt! Come on, off to bed now, so we’ll be rested for tomorrow!
Marc: Good night, darling! Can’t wait for tomorrow morning…
Sophie: Good night! It’s going to be perfect, you’ll see!
