Feeling of hunger – what to do?

Tu veux qu’on trouve quelque chose rapidement ?
Sophie: Elle a raison !
Marc: Attends… zut !
Marc: T’as raison.
Merci mille fois !
Marc: De rien !

English translation

Sophie and Marc are students at the University of Lyon. It’s 3:30 PM and they have just come out of a three-hour class. Sophie hasn’t eaten anything since this morning and is beginning to feel extremely hungry. Marc, meanwhile, is always snacking and knows the little tricks to quickly curb hunger.
DIALOGUE
Sophie: Ugh… Marc, I’m starving! My stomach’s been growling for an hour.
Marc: Oh really? You didn’t have breakfast this morning?
Sophie: Yes, but only a coffee around 7 a.m. With this never-ending class, I’m starving now!
Marc: Oof! When I get that kind of ravenous hunger, I get completely irritable. Do you want us to find something quickly?
Sophie: Yes, but what? The student cafeteria is closed at this hour, isn’t it?
Marc: Uh… yeah, I think so. But hey, there’s a bakery just across from the university. We can grab a sandwich or something hot.
Sophie: Good idea! I need something filling. These little hunger pangs give me a headache.
Marc: Same for me. When I skip a meal, I feel really weak. My grandmother always says, “You should eat before you’re hungry!”
Sophie: She’s right! Alright, let’s go before I pass out.
Marc: Wait… darn! I just remembered. My girlfriend told me that this bakery closes at 3 PM on Wednesdays.
Sophie: Seriously? So what do we do now? I’m really starving!
Marc: Well… there’s a vending machine in the hall, but the food’s not great.
Sophie: Chips and chocolate bars? No thanks, that’ll just make me even hungrier afterward. I need a proper snack.
Marc: You’re right. Uh… what if we went to the little café on Rue Pasteur? They make pretty good croque-monsieur.
Sophie: Isn’t it far? With how hungry I am, I’m not sure I’ll make it that far.
Marc: Come on, it’s at most a five-minute walk. And it’ll do us good to walk a bit.
Sophie: Mm… OK then, but I’m warning you: if I start getting dizzy, we’ll stop at the first place we find!
Marc: I promise! If worst comes to worst, I’ve always got candy in my bag. That should tide you over for now.
Sophie: Candy? Show me! At this point, I’ll eat anything.
Marc: Here, I have mint lozenges and… oh, two cereal bars. Do you want one?
Sophie: Oh, you’re a lifesaver! This bar will tide me over. Thank you so much!
Marc: You’re welcome! Ever since I had an episode of hypoglycemia last year, I always have something on me.
Sophie: Ah, you had a fainting spell? That’s annoying!
Marc: Yeah, during a math midterm. I was stressed all night and didn’t eat. Never again!
Sophie: I understand! Well, this bar is already making me feel better. Shall we go for that croque-monsieur?
Marc: Perfect! And this time, let’s check the café’s opening hours so we avoid another disappointment.
Sophie: Excellent idea! And tomorrow I’ll put an apple in my bag. I’ll never be caught with an empty stomach like that again.
Marc: Good thinking! Come on, let’s go. I’m craving a good hot chocolate with my croque.
Sophie: Mmm, that sounds good! My hunger pangs aren’t as bad anymore. Luckily you were here!
Marc: That’s student solidarity! Next time, you’ll be the one to help me out when I get a little peckish.
Sophie: Count on me! Right, shall we hurry? This cereal bar is fine, but it doesn’t replace a proper meal.
Marc: Come on, let’s go! In ten minutes you’ll have a full stomach and peace of mind!
