Après six mois de cours de photographie du soir, Sarah et Thomas se retrouvent au café en face de l’école pour faire le bilan de cette expérience. Ils discutent de ce qu’ils ont appris, des difficultés rencontrées et de leurs projets futurs dans ce domaine.
DIALOGUE
Sarah : Alors Thomas, maintenant que c’est fini, tu en penses quoi de ce cours de photo ?
Thomas : Euh… ben écoute, je suis assez mitigé pour être honnête. Et toi ?
Sarah : Mitigé ? Ah bon ? Moi j’ai adoré ! Je pensais que ça te plaisait aussi…
Thomas : Oh si, le côté technique m’a beaucoup plu, hein. Mais j’avoue que j’ai eu du mal avec certains exercices créatifs.
Sarah : Lesquels par exemple ? Les portraits en noir et blanc ?
Thomas : Exactement ! Et puis cette histoire de “raconter une histoire avec une seule image”… Pfff, j’y arrivais jamais !
Sarah : Pourtant tes photos de rue étaient magnifiques ! Tu te sous-estimes, je trouve.
Thomas : Tu crois ? Ben moi je me disais que c’était pas terrible… Tiens, au fait, tu as eu quelle note pour le projet final ?
Sarah : 16 sur 20 ! J’étais super contente. Et toi ?
Thomas : Euh… 12. C’est pas génial, mais ça passe.
Sarah : Zut, désolée… Mais bon, l’important c’est ce qu’on a appris, non ?
Thomas : Ouais, tu as raison. D’ailleurs, financièrement, ça représentait un sacré investissement pour moi.
Sarah : C’est vrai que 400 euros, c’est pas donné… Mais regarde tout le matériel qu’on a pu tester !
Thomas : Ah ça, c’était chouette ! Sans ce cours, jamais j’aurais pu essayer un objectif à 2000 euros !
Sarah : Et maintenant, tu comptes faire quoi ? Tu continues ?
Thomas : Justement, j’hésite… Il paraît qu’il y a un cours niveau 2 qui commence en janvier.
Sarah : Oui, le prof nous en a parlé la semaine dernière. Spécialisé dans le portrait et l’éclairage.
Thomas : Exactement ce qui me pose problème ! Tu vas t’inscrire ?
Sarah : Ben… euh… en fait j’ai un petit souci. Mon copain n’était pas très content que je sorte deux soirs par semaine.
Thomas : Ah mince… Il te fait des reproches ?
Sarah : Pas vraiment des reproches, mais il trouve que je néglige un peu notre relation. Et c’est vrai que j’étais souvent fatiguée…
Thomas : Hm, je vois. C’est délicat comme situation…
Sarah : Du coup, je me demande si je ne devrais pas plutôt prendre des cours en ligne. Qu’est-ce que tu en penses ?
Thomas : Les cours en ligne ? J’ai testé pendant le confinement, c’est pas pareil. Tu perds tout l’aspect pratique.
Sarah : Oui mais au moins, je pourrais gérer mon emploi du temps comme je veux…
Thomas : C’est sûr… Bon, moi j’ai une autre idée. Et si on se faisait nos propres sessions photo ?
Sarah : Comment ça ?
Thomas : Ben, on pourrait se retrouver le weekend, faire des sorties photo ensemble. Tu m’aiderais pour les portraits, je t’aiderais pour la technique…
Sarah : Tiens, c’est pas bête ! Ça coûterait rien et on pourrait progresser quand même.
Thomas : Exactement ! Et puis franchement, certains trucs que le prof nous montrait, on peut les trouver sur YouTube.
Sarah : Ah ça, c’est clair ! Il y a des tutos géniaux maintenant. Mais bon, avoir un vrai retour sur son travail, c’est précieux aussi.
Thomas : Oui, t’as pas tort… Dis-moi, tu te souviens de Julie, la fille aux cheveux roux ?
Sarah : Bien sûr ! Celle qui faisait de la macro ?
Thomas : Voilà ! Elle m’a dit qu’elle montait un petit groupe photo amateur. Ça pourrait nous intéresser, non ?
Sarah : Oh, excellente idée ! On aurait les retours du groupe et la liberté d’organisation !
Thomas : Je lui demande les détails et je te tiens au courant ?
Sarah : Parfait ! Au final, ce cours nous aura au moins permis de nous rencontrer !
Thomas : C’est vrai ! Et puis maintenant, je regarde les photos complètement différemment. Ça, ça n’a pas de prix !
Sarah : Alors finalement, c’était plutôt rentable comme investissement ?
Thomas : Tu sais quoi ? Oui, je crois que ça valait le coup !

Sarah : But your street photos were magnificent! I think you’re underestimating yourself.
Thomas : You think so? Well, I was thinking it wasn’t that great… By the way, what grade did you get for the final project?
Sarah : 16 out of 20! I was really happy. And you?
Thomas : Uh… 12. It’s not great, but it’s enough to pass.
Sarah : Darn, sorry… But hey, the important thing is what we learned, right?
Thomas : Yeah, you’re right. Money-wise, it was quite an investment for me.

Thomas : Well, we could meet up on weekends, go on photo outings together. You’d help me with portraits, I’d help you with the technical side…
Sarah : Hey, that’s not a bad idea! It wouldn’t cost anything and we could still make progress.
Thomas : Exactly! And honestly, some of the stuff the teacher showed us, we can find on YouTube.
Sarah : Oh, that’s for sure! There are great tutorials now. But still, getting real feedback on your work is valuable too.
Thomas : Yeah, you’re not wrong… Tell me, do you remember Julie, the girl with red hair?
Sarah : Of course! The one who did macro photography?
Thomas : There you go! She told me she’s putting together a small amateur photography group. That might interest us, don’t you think?
Sarah : Oh, excellent idea! We’d get feedback from the group and the freedom to organize things!
Thomas : Should I ask her for the details and let you know?
Sarah : Perfect! In the end, this course at least brought us together!
Thomas : That’s true! And now I look at photos in a completely different way. That really is priceless!
Sarah : So in the end, was it a worthwhile investment?
Thomas : You know what? Yes, I think it was worth it!
