Ils doivent prendre une décision importante qui influencera leur parcours vers le baccalauréat et leurs études supérieures.

Mme Dubois: Alors les jeunes, vous avez réfléchi à vos choix de spécialités pour l’année prochaine ?
Camille: Euh… ben, pas vraiment madame. C’est tellement compliqué ! Il y a tant de possibilités.
Thomas: Moi, je pensais prendre maths, physique-chimie et… euh… peut-être SES ? Mes parents disent que c’est un bon mix.
Mme Dubois: Ah, tes parents… Mais toi Thomas, qu’est-ce qui te plaît vraiment ? Quels sont tes points forts ?
Thomas: Ben, j’aime bien les sciences, hein, mais j’suis pas sûr d’être assez fort en maths. Et puis… j’adore l’histoire en fait.
Camille: Tiens, moi c’est le contraire ! Je cartonne en maths mais les sciences, bof… Ça me gonfle un peu, ces cours de physique !
Mme Dubois: Camille, as-tu pensé à maths expert ? Avec tes notes, tu pourrais viser une prépa scientifique ou école d’ingé.
Camille: Ah bon ? Mais j’aimerais bien faire du droit plus tard… Mes profs disent toujours qu’il faut faire scientifique pour garder toutes les portes ouvertes.
Thomas: Ouais, c’est ce qu’on entend partout ! Moi, mon grand frère a fait S et maintenant il galère en fac de psycho.
Mme Dubois: Écoutez, les temps ont changé ! Avec la réforme, on peut mixer les profils. Thomas, si tu aimes l’histoire, pourquoi pas HGGSP ?
Thomas: C’est quoi déjà HGGSP ? J’arrive jamais à retenir ces acronymes…
Mme Dubois: Histoire-géographie, géopolitique et sciences politiques. Très riche comme matière ! Et Camille, pour le droit, tu peux très bien faire maths, SES et… français ou philo ?
Camille: Oh là là, philo… ça me fait peur ! Et puis zut, j’ai un gros problème…
Mme Dubois: Ah ? Lequel ?
Camille: Ben, mes parents veulent absolument que je fasse médecine. Ils disent que sans physique-chimie et SVT, c’est mort pour PACES… enfin PASS maintenant.
Thomas: Ah ouais, la pression des parents… Je connais ! Le mien veut que je reprenne son cabinet comptable.
Mme Dubois: Attendez, attendez… Camille, tu as dit que tu voulais faire du droit, non ?
Camille: Euh si… mais mes parents… Vous savez, ils ont investi tellement d’argent dans mes études ! Et ma sœur a raté sa première année de médecine.
Thomas: Chouette alors ! Moi qui croyais que t’étais sûre de ton truc…
Mme Dubois: Les enfants, écoutez-moi bien. Vos parents veulent votre bonheur, mais c’est VOTRE vie. Thomas, tes notes en histoire sont excellentes.
Thomas: Ouais, c’est vrai… mais bon, prof d’histoire, ça recrute pas terrible en ce moment, hein ?
Mme Dubois: Qui parle d’être prof ? Tu peux faire journalisme, sciences po, relations internationales… Plein de débouchés !
Camille: Moi j’ai une autre inquiétude… Et si je me plantais ? Si je changeais d’avis en terminale ?
Mme Dubois: C’est possible de changer, mais c’est plus compliqué. D’où l’importance de bien choisir maintenant.
Thomas: Au fait madame, c’est vrai qu’on peut prendre trois spés en première et n’en garder que deux en terminale ?
Mme Dubois: Exactement ! Ça permet de tester. Mais attention, la charge de travail est lourde avec trois spécialités.
Camille: Bon alors… si je prends maths, SES et… allez, on va dire physique-chimie pour faire plaisir aux parents ?
Mme Dubois: Camille ! Tu fais encore des compromis ! Qu’est-ce qui T’intéresse vraiment ?
Camille: Euh… ben, le droit, l’économie… et j’aime bien les langues aussi ! L’anglais, ça compte comme spé ?
Thomas: Ah si ! LLCER, langue littérature et civilisation étrangère ! Ma cousine a pris ça.
Mme Dubois: Très bien Thomas ! Alors Camille : maths, SES, LLCER anglais ? Ça c’est un profil cohérent pour le droit !
Camille: Ah oui ! Ça me plaît beaucoup plus ! Mais mes parents vont faire la gueule…
Thomas: Bon moi, je me lance : maths, HGGSP et… SES aussi ? Ça marche ensemble ?
Mme Dubois: Parfait pour sciences po ! Mais Thomas, tu es sûr pour les maths ? Tes notes sont justes…
Thomas: Mouais… peut-être SVT alors ? J’aime bien, et c’est plus facile pour moi que la physique.
Mme Dubois: Excellente idée ! HGGSP, SES, SVT : profil parfait pour sciences humaines et sociales !
Camille: Cool ! On aura SES ensemble alors ! Mais… euh… c’est quand la date limite pour s’inscrire ?
Mme Dubois: Aïe ! C’est vendredi prochain ! Il faut que vous parliez à vos parents cette semaine.
Thomas: Oh punaise ! Ça va être chaud à la maison… Mais tant pis, j’assume mes choix !

Camille: Oh really? But I’d like to study law later… My teachers always say you have to take the science track to keep all the doors open.
Thomas: Yeah, that’s what you hear everywhere! My older brother took the S track and now he’s struggling in psychology at university.
