Sophie vient de terminer un cours intensif d’anglais et rencontre son ami Marc dans un café près de l’école de langues. Elle est très enthousiaste car elle a obtenu son certificat Cambridge FCE, mais elle s’interroge sur les opportunités que cela peut lui apporter. Marc, qui travaille dans les ressources humaines, va l’aider à y voir plus clair.

Sophie : Marc ! Tu tombes bien ! J’ai une super nouvelle à t’annoncer !
Marc : Ah bon ? Raconte-moi ça ! Tu as l’air toute excitée.
Sophie : Ben figure-toi que j’ai enfin reçu mon certificat FCE ! Six mois de cours du soir, ça valait le coup finalement.
Marc : Chouette ! Félicitations ! C’est le First Certificate, c’est ça ? Niveau B2 si je me souviens bien.
Sophie : Exactement ! Mais bon, maintenant je me demande… concrètement, qu’est-ce que ça va m’apporter ? Est-ce que les employeurs reconnaissent vraiment ce type de certification ?
Marc : Oh là là, tu rigoles ? Dans mon secteur, les RH, c’est carrément indispensable ! Le FCE, c’est reconnu partout en Europe. Ça prouve que tu maîtrises l’anglais à un niveau correct.
Sophie : Hum, tu dis “niveau correct”… C’est pas un peu juste pour postuler dans une multinationale ?
Marc : Euh, ben ça dépend du poste, hein. Pour un job où l’anglais est secondaire, c’est parfait. Mais pour un poste international… il faudrait peut-être viser plus haut.
Sophie : Plus haut comment ? Le CAE ?
Marc : Tiens, c’est marrant que tu en parles ! Ma collègue Emma cherche justement quelqu’un avec un bon niveau d’anglais pour son équipe marketing.
Sophie : Ah oui ? Mais attends, tu viens de dire que le FCE c’était peut-être juste !
Marc : Non non, j’ai dit que ça dépendait du poste ! Pour ce job-là, ton niveau B2 pourrait suffire. Il s’agit surtout de rédiger des emails et de participer à quelques visios.
Sophie : Ça m’intéresse ! Mais dis-moi, est-ce que mon certificat a une date de validité ? Je l’ai passé il y a trois mois.
Marc : Bonne question ! En principe, les certificats Cambridge n’expirent pas, contrairement au TOEIC ou au TOEFL.
Sophie : Super ! Et pour les universités ? J’aimerais bien reprendre mes études, faire un master peut-être…
