A spontaneous decision to go out in the evening after a hard day

Tu as l’air d’avoir passé un sale quart d’heure.
Sophie: Tu peux le dire ! Bon, je vais me préparer un thé et me poser devant la télé. J’ai juste envie de rien faire.
Camille: Attends, attends ! J’ai une meilleure idée. Et si on sortait ce soir ? Histoire de te changer les idées ?
Sophie: Euh… Camille, t’as vu ma tête ?
L’ambiance a l’air cool.
Sophie: Un bar ?
Sophie: Hmmm…
Sophie: Ouais, laisse-moi cinq minutes.
Camille: Euh… bonne question !
Camille: On y va !

She shares an apartment with her roommate Camille, who notices her condition and spontaneously suggests going out to clear her head. Despite her fatigue, will Sophie let herself be persuaded to spend an evening out?

DIALOGUE

Sophie: *sighs as she closes the door* Pfff… What a day! I’m completely exhausted.
Camille: Ah, hi Sophie! You don’t seem to be doing well at all… What happened?
Sophie: Where to start? First, my alarm didn’t go off, so I was late. Then my boss made me redo my entire report three times!
Camille: Oh dear… And on top of that, it was raining this morning. You look like you’ve had a rough time.
Sophie: You can say that! Right, I’m going to make myself a cup of tea and sit in front of the TV. I just feel like doing nothing.
Camille: Wait, wait! I have a better idea. How about we go out tonight? To take your mind off things?
Sophie: Um… Camille, have you seen me? I look terrible, and I’m really tired.
Camille: Exactly! That’s precisely why you need to go out. Staying cooped up will only make you feel worse.
Sophie: Well… I don’t know. I don’t even feel like reapplying my makeup or looking for something to wear.
Camille: Come on, we’ll do something simple! Look, there’s that nice new bar that opened on Rue de la Paix. The vibe seems cool.
Sophie: A bar? Camille, I said I was exhausted, not that I wanted to party until three in the morning!
Camille: No, nothing extravagant! We’ll just have a drink, chat a bit… It’ll relax you, you’ll see.
Sophie: Hmmm… *hesitates* And where exactly is this bar?
Camille: Just around the corner! We can even walk there. Come on, say yes! It’s been ages since we’ve been out together.
Sophie: It’s true, it’s been a while… Okay, fine, but just one drink then! And we’ll be home early.
Camille: Great! See, it’s exactly what you need. Want to freshen up a bit and then we’ll go?
Sophie: Yeah, give me five minutes. *goes to her bedroom* By the way, do they serve food at that bar?
Camille: Uh… good question! I think they have small charcuterie boards or things like that.
Sophie: *comes back with a jacket* Perfect, because I haven’t eaten anything since noon. Oh shoot! I just remembered, I promised to call my mother tonight.
Camille: You’ll call her tomorrow! Or even in a little while, before we go out?
Sophie: No, she’ll be watching her TV show. Oh well, I’ll text her to explain.
Camille: Great! So, are you ready? Can we go now?
Sophie: Wait… *checks her phone* Oh no! My friend Lisa just sent me a message. She had a fight with her boyfriend.
Camille: Ah… So?
Sophie: Well, she’s asking if she can come over tonight so we can talk. She seems really upset.
Camille: Huh? But… what about us going out, then?
Sophie: I know, but you know Lisa. When she’s upset, she really needs to talk.
Camille: Listen, why don’t we take her with us? It would take her mind off things too!
Sophie: You think so? She won’t sulk the whole evening, will she?
Camille: No! On the contrary, going out will be good for her. And anyway, it’ll be nicer with the three of us!
Sophie: *thinks* Yeah, why not… Should I text her to suggest it?
Camille: Go for it! Besides, she doesn’t live far from the bar, she can meet us there directly.
Sophie: *taps on her phone* There, it’s sent. So, do we wait for her reply or shall we go?
Camille: Let’s go! Anyway, if she can’t make it, we’ll already be seated.
Sophie: Okay! By the way, thanks, Camille… It was really a good idea to go out.
Camille: I told you! Come on, it’s going to be a great night!
Sophie: *smiles at last* Yeah, my spirits are already lifting. Let’s go!
