La scène se déroule dans un bus urbain en fin d’après-midi. Deux passagers, Sophie et Thomas, viennent d’assister à une altercation entre un homme agressif et le chauffeur. L’homme est descendu à l’arrêt précédent, laissant les passagers encore sous le choc de son comportement violent.
DIALOGUE
Sophie : Eh ben dis donc… Tu as vu comme il s’est emporté ce type ?
Thomas : Euh… oui, franchement j’ai cru qu’il allait frapper le chauffeur ! Il était complètement hors de lui.
Sophie : Moi j’étais assise juste derrière, j’ai tout entendu. Au début c’était juste parce qu’il voulait descendre entre deux arrêts, non ?
Thomas : Exactement ! Le chauffeur lui a gentiment expliqué que c’était impossible pour des raisons de sécurité, et là… boum ! Il a explosé.
Sophie : “Boum” c’est le mot ! Les insultes, les menaces… Hein, tu te rends compte ? Et devant des enfants en plus !
Thomas : Ah ça m’a choqué aussi. La petite fille là-bas avait l’air terrorisée. Sa mère essayait de lui cacher les yeux.
Sophie : Franchement, qu’est-ce qui ne va pas chez les gens ? On dirait que tout le monde est sur les nerfs ces temps-ci dans les transports.
Thomas : Ben tu sais, avec les retards constants, la surpopulation… Je comprends qu’on puisse être énervé, mais de là à insulter le chauffeur !
Sophie : Euh attends, tu n’es pas en train de le défendre quand même ?
Thomas : Non non ! Pas du tout ! Je dis juste que… enfin, il y a peut-être eu un malentendu au départ.
Sophie : Un malentendu ? Thomas, le mec a traité le chauffeur d’incapable et a menacé de “lui régler son compte” ! Tu appelles ça un malentendu ?
Thomas : Bon d’accord, j’ai mal formulé. Ce que je veux dire c’est que… tiens, regarde le chauffeur là, il tremble encore.
Sophie : Exactement ! Le pauvre, il fait juste son boulot. Tu crois qu’on devrait aller lui parler ? Le rassurer un peu ?
Thomas : Bonne idée. D’ailleurs, on aurait peut-être dû intervenir tout à l’heure, non ?
Sophie : Euh… pour être honnête, j’ai eu la frousse. Le type était costaud et complètement déchainé. Toi tu aurais fait quoi ?
Thomas : Ben… je ne sais pas. Sur le coup, j’ai pensé à appeler la police avec mon portable, mais ça s’est calmé quand le bus s’est arrêté.
Sophie : Ouais, heureusement que d’autres passagers ont essayé de le raisonner. Cette dame âgée, elle a eu du courage !
Thomas : Ah oui ! Elle lui a dit : “Calmez-vous monsieur, ce n’est qu’un bus !” Ça m’a impressionné.
Sophie : Et lui qui lui a répondu de se mêler de ses affaires… Vraiment, quel goujat ! Mais au fait, tu as vu ? Il avait l’air d’avoir bu, non ?
Thomas : Maintenant que tu le dis… si, ses yeux étaient un peu vitreux. Et cette odeur bizarre quand il est passé près de nous…
Sophie : Voilà ! Ça expliquerait son agressivité. Ceci dit, ce n’est pas une excuse hein !
Thomas : Bien sûr que non. Tiens, on arrive à mon arrêt. Tu descends aussi ?
Sophie : Euh non, moi c’est le suivant. Mais attends, va dire un mot gentil au chauffeur avant de descendre !
Thomas : Bonne idée ! Au fait, Sophie, on se retrouve comme prévu demain pour le ciné ?
Sophie : Ah zut ! J’ai complètement oublié de te dire… Il faut que je reporte. Ma sœur vient à l’improviste ce week-end.
Thomas : Ah bon ? Dommage… Bon ben on se téléphone alors ? Le film passe toute la semaine.
Sophie : Parfait ! Et merci pour cette conversation, ça m’a fait du bien d’en parler. J’étais encore toute retournée.
Thomas : De rien ! Allez, je vais rassurer notre chauffeur. À bientôt Sophie !
Sophie : À bientôt Thomas ! Et fais attention à toi en rentrant, on ne sait jamais sur qui on peut tomber…

Sophie : “Boom” is the word! The insults, the threats… Can you believe it? And in front of children, too!
Thomas : Ah, that shocked me too. The little girl over there looked terrified. Her mother was trying to cover her eyes.
Sophie : Honestly, what’s wrong with people? It seems like everyone’s on edge on public transport these days.
