Thomas : Oh là là, ça me fait culpabiliser.
Bon alors, on y va quand ?
Thomas : Parfait ! On peut y aller ensemble alors. On prendra ma voiture.
Sophie : Super !
Sophie : Oui ! Je vais appeler mamie pour la prévenir. Elle va être toute contente !
Thomas : Parfait !

DIALOGUE
Sophie : Hey Thomas, how long has it been since we last visited Grandpa and Grandma?
Thomas : Uh… well, I went there about two weeks ago, I think. And you?
Sophie : Oh really? Mom told me no one had visited in a month! Are you sure?
Thomas : Wait, let me think… No, you’re right, it was last month actually. Darn, time goes by too fast!
Sophie : Okay, we need to get better organized. Grandma called me last night; she sounded a bit sad.
Thomas : Oh dear, that makes me feel guilty. What exactly did she tell you ?
Sophie : Well, she was asking if we were okay, if we were very busy… You know how she is when she doesn’t dare complain directly.
Thomas : Yeah, I get it. So, when are we going? This weekend?
Sophie : That’s the thing, it’s complicated. On Saturday I have my friend Amélie’s wedding, and on Sunday I promised Marc we’d go see his parents.
Thomas : Ah, that’s true! I had forgotten about your wedding. I’m free this weekend, but going alone makes me a bit down.
Sophie : Why? Our grandparents are adorable!
Thomas : That’s not it… It’s just that grandpa always asks me the same questions about my job, and grandma repeats her stories. I feel like I don’t know what to say to them.
Sophie : Oh, that’s funny, I love listening to grandma’s stories! And grandpa has loads of funny anecdotes about dad when he was little.
Thomas : Really? Maybe I just don’t know how to deal with them…
Sophie : Listen, what if we made a schedule? That way, we could take turns, and every now and then go together.
Thomas : Good idea! So, this week, who can go?
Sophie : I can do Wednesday afternoon. I only have classes in the morning. And you?
Thomas : Wednesday… uh, no, I have a meeting until 6 p.m. Maybe Friday?
Sophie : Friday, no way, I have my yoga class, and afterwards I’m going out with the girls.
Thomas : Well, we’re not very available! What about Thursday?
Sophie : Thursday… hang on, let me check my calendar… Oh yes! Thursday late afternoon works!
Thomas : Perfect! We can go together then. We’ll take my car.
Sophie : Great! By the way, do you think we should bring them something? Some cakes or flowers?
Thomas : Oh yes, good idea! Grandma loves the chocolate religieuses from the Dubois pastry shop.
Sophie : And grandpa, does he still like magazines about classic cars as much?
Thomas : Totally! Last time, he talked to me about his first 2CV for an hour!
Sophie : Huh? An hour? Weren’t you bored?
Thomas : At first, yes, but it turned out to be quite fascinating. He had driven it all around France with Grandma in it!
Sophie : See? You just have to let them tell their stories. So, around what time on Thursday?
Thomas : 4 p.m., does that work for you? That way we can stay until dinnertime.
Sophie : Perfect! And for the following weeks, what should we do?
Thomas : We could go once a week, taking turns, and once a month both of us together?
Sophie : Excellent idea! And for holidays and birthdays, we’ll coordinate.
Thomas : Okay! By the way, when is Grandma’s birthday again?
Sophie : The 15th of next month! We need to organize something special.
Thomas : We have time to figure it out. So, is it settled for Thursday?
Sophie : Yes! I’ll call Grandma to let her know. She’ll be so happy!
Thomas : Perfect! And thanks, Sophie, you’re right, we need to take better care of them.
Sophie : Of course, they’ve always been there for us. See you on Thursday then!
Thomas : See you on Thursday! And don’t forget the religieuses!
