Marie et Thomas se retrouvent dans un café du centre-ville un samedi après-midi. Amis depuis l’université, ils ne se sont pas vus depuis plusieurs mois à cause de leurs emplois du temps chargés. Marie vient d’obtenir son master en marketing digital, tandis que Thomas travaille depuis deux ans dans une startup technologique mais commence à s’interroger sur son avenir professionnel.

Marie: Thomas ! Ça fait un bail ! Comment tu vas ?
Thomas: Marie ! Chouette de te revoir ! Ça va bien, et toi ? Tu as l’air en forme !
Marie: Merci ! Ben écoute, ça va plutôt bien. J’ai enfin terminé mon master le mois dernier.
Thomas: Ah bon ? Félicitations ! Et alors, tu as des projets maintenant ?
Marie: Eh bien justement… euh… je cherche du boulot. C’est pas évident, tu sais.
Thomas: Je m’en doute. Dans le marketing digital, c’est concurrentiel, non ?
Marie: Ouais, exactement. Mais bon, j’ai eu quelques entretiens intéressants. Et toi alors ? Tu es toujours chez… comment ça s’appelle déjà… TechnoStart ?
Thomas: TechVibe, en fait. Ouais, j’y suis encore, mais… ben disons que ça me pose question en ce moment.
Marie: Comment ça ? Tu n’es pas content ?
Thomas: Si si, enfin… c’est compliqué. L’ambiance est cool, mes collègues sont sympas, mais j’ai l’impression de stagner, tu vois ?
Marie: Ah je vois. Tu penses à changer ?
Thomas: Bonne question ! Parfois oui, parfois non. En fait, j’hésite entre chercher ailleurs ou demander une promotion.
Marie: Et une promotion, c’est envisageable dans ta boîte ?
Thomas: Euh… théoriquement oui. Mon chef m’a fait comprendre que c’était possible, mais bon, entre dire et faire…
Marie: Hein ? Il t’a dit quoi exactement ?
Thomas: Ben, il m’a dit que si je prenais plus d’initiatives sur le projet client, je pourrais évoluer vers un poste de chef de projet.
Marie: Mais c’est génial ça ! Qu’est-ce qui te freine ?
Thomas: Le truc, c’est que ça impliquerait de bosser avec Sandrine… tu te souviens d’elle ?
Marie: Sandrine… euh… non, je ne vois pas.
Thomas: On était ensemble à la fac, en dernière année. Ça s’est mal terminé entre nous.
Marie: Ah zut ! Elle travaille dans ta boîte maintenant ?
Thomas: Ouais, elle est arrivée il y a trois mois. Et devine quoi ? Elle est déjà chef de projet dans l’équipe où je pourrais aller !
Marie: Aïe… c’est gênant effectivement. Mais bon, vous êtes adultes, non ? Ça remonte à quand votre histoire ?
Thomas: Deux ans… mais tu sais comment c’est. On s’évite poliment pour l’instant.
Marie: Je comprends, mais tu ne vas quand même pas laisser passer une opportunité à cause de ça !
Thomas: Tu as raison, mais c’est plus facile à dire qu’à faire. Et toi, ces entretiens dont tu parlais ?
Marie: Ah oui ! Alors j’en ai eu trois la semaine dernière. Deux dans des agences de pub et un dans une grande entreprise.
Thomas: Et ça s’est bien passé ?
Marie: Ben, les agences, c’était cool mais les salaires proposés… pfff… vraiment bas pour Paris !
Thomas: Et la grande entreprise ?
Marie: Là, c’est différent. Le poste est intéressant, bien payé, mais… euh… il faut déménager à Lyon.
Thomas: Tiens ! C’est un problème pour toi ?
Marie: Bof, pas vraiment. En fait, ça pourrait être l’occasion de changer d’air. Mais j’attends encore une réponse d’une boîte parisienne.
Thomas: Tu as bien raison d’attendre. Au fait, c’est quoi exactement le poste à Lyon ?
Marie: Responsable marketing digital pour une startup dans l’e-commerce. Ils cherchent quelqu’un pour développer leur stratégie sur les réseaux sociaux.
Thomas: Ça sonne bien ! Et ils t’ont dit quand ils prendraient leur décision ?
Marie: D’ici la fin de la semaine normalement. Croisons les doigts ! Et toi, tu vas faire quoi finalement ?
Thomas: Ben écoute, après notre discussion, je pense que je vais tenter le coup pour la promotion. Au pire, si ça marche pas avec Sandrine, j’aviserai.
Marie: Voilà ! C’est l’esprit qu’il faut ! Au fait, tu as gardé contact avec d’autres de la promo ?
Thomas: Pas vraiment… Julien de temps en temps sur LinkedIn. Et toi ?
Marie: Pareil, pas beaucoup. C’est dingue comme on se perd de vue après les études !
Thomas: Ouais… Bon, on se tient au courant pour nos projets alors ?
Marie: Avec plaisir ! Et promis, on ne laisse plus passer six mois sans se voir !
Thomas: Marché conclu ! Allez, je te raccompagne au métro ?
Marie: Volontiers ! En route, tu pourras me donner des conseils pour négocier un salaire !
Thomas: Haha ! Je ne suis peut-être pas le mieux placé, mais on peut toujours discuter !
